This beautiful Duille fine art print features Winter Stock made in pencil and watercolour by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1914 at Walberswick on England’s east coast. Mackintosh has selected a pink variety recording both fully open and partially opened flower clusters with some developing flower stalks so as to reveal the structure of the plant and provide a pleasing composition. The drawing’s cartouche bears both the initials of Charles and also of Margaret; a device used by Charles to record those who were present when these drawings were made.Winter Stock is a charming example of Mackintosh’s ‘Waberswick botanicals’ most of which were made in preparation for publication in a book.
